A senior ISIL<\/a> member, Talip G\u00fcler, also known by the codename \u201cAbd\u00fcsselam T\u00fcrki,\u201d has been captured in Syria and transferred to T\u00fcrkiye<\/a> in an operation<\/a> carried out by T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s National Intelligence Organization (M\u0130T), security sources said on July 13.<\/p>\n

G\u00fcler, the younger brother of senior ISIL operative Kas\u0131m G\u00fcler, was a key member of the group\u2019s T\u00fcrkiye-based network known as the \u201cFarouk Office\u201d Maktab Al-Faruq, according to the sources.<\/p>\n

He had been listed among the Interior Ministry\u2019s most wanted terrorism suspects. His brother was similarly detained in an M\u0130T cross-border operation in 2021.<\/p>\n

Authorities said Talip G\u00fcler entered Syria illegally in early 2014, during the peak of the country\u2019s civil war, and became actively involved in ISIL alongside his brother.<\/p>\n

After Kas\u0131m G\u00fcler\u2019s capture, M\u0130T reportedly tracked Talip G\u00fcler\u2019s movements for years before locating and apprehending him in Syria.<\/p>\n

Following his transfer to T\u00fcrkiye, G\u00fcler cooperated with investigators, providing information about his radicalization process, his journey into Syria, his recruitment into ISIL and the activities he carried out within the organization.<\/p>\n
