Israel\u2019s government may soon approve a large mobilisation of military reservists, with plans to call up about 450,000 troops, the country\u2019s public broadcaster reported on Sunday.<\/p>\n

The broadcaster said it had learned that the move is part of military preparations for the war and the possible launch of a ground operation in Lebanon. It did not cite a source for the information.<\/p>\n

According to the report, the Israeli military and security agencies has already submitted the request for mobilisation. The proposal is expected to be presented soon to government ministers and members of the Knesset\u2019s Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee for approval.<\/p>\n

The report added that the current authorised ceiling for reservist mobilisation is about 260,000 soldiers, based on a government decision issued in January.<\/p>\n

If approved, the new plan would significantly expand the scale of military mobilisation beyond the current limit.<\/p>\n

The move comes amid rising tensions with Lebanon, as the Israeli army studies options to broaden its military operations, including the possibility of launching a ground offensive inside Lebanese territory.<\/p>\n
