{"id":221037,"date":"2026-07-24T11:57:09","date_gmt":"2026-07-24T11:57:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/221037\/"},"modified":"2026-07-24T11:57:09","modified_gmt":"2026-07-24T11:57:09","slug":"hormuz-tanker-crossings-slip-to-lowest-in-more-than-two-months-data-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/221037\/","title":{"rendered":"Hormuz Tanker Crossings Slip to Lowest in More Than Two Months, Data Shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"161\" height=\"41\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/1772905986_225_reuters_logo1.jpg\" alt=\"Reuters\" class=\"wp-image-89354\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">SINGAPORE, July 24 (Reuters)\u00a0\u2013\u00a0The number of tankers crossing the Strait of Hormuz fell to just one on Thursday, the lowest level since May 7, according to shiptracking data, amid ongoing shipping risks in the Middle East and as oil prices surged back to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reutersconnect.com\/all?search=all%3AL4N43P2PJ&amp;linkedFromStory=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">$100 a barrel<\/a>.\u00a0O\/R<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only one tanker crossed the Strait of Hormuz on July 23, compared with three the day earlier, data from analytics firm Kpler showed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very large crude carrier New Giant, loaded with 2 million barrels of Iraqi Basrah crude, exited the strait on Thursday and is due to arrive at China\u2019s Rizhao\u00a0port\u00a0by mid-August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No ships entered the Strait of Hormuz on July 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. military said late on Thursday that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reutersconnect.com\/all?search=all%3AL1N43Q00S&amp;linkedFromStory=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">it had completed<\/a>\u00a0a 13th consecutive night of strikes on Iran.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, at the Bab el-Mandeb strait, commodity tanker crossings totalled 32 on July 23, up from 26 the day before, Kpler data showed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of those crossings, 14 tankers were going into the Red Sea and 18 were exiting the strait into the Gulf of Aden.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Out of the 18 tankers exiting Bab el-Mandeb, nine were carrying crude oil, including two loaded\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reutersconnect.com\/all?search=all%3AL1N43P01A&amp;linkedFromStory=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Chinese supertankers<\/a>\u00a0bound for China.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Separately, the clean tanker Torm Innovation \u2013 loaded with around 500,000 barrels of naphtha bound for Asia \u2013 has made a slight turn for the Suez Canal exit instead of a typical Bab el-Mandeb exit, Kpler and LSEG shiptracking data showed.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rerouting ships via the Suez Canal to Asia instead of via the Bab el-Mandeb strait could make the voyage nearly three times as long, regional trade sources said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Saudi Aramco\u00a02222.SE\u00a0has started offering\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reutersconnect.com\/all?search=all%3AL1N43P0NM&amp;linkedFromStory=true\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">additional<\/a>\u00a0crude cargoes loading at Egypt\u2019s Mediterranean\u00a0port\u00a0of Sidi Kerir as a workaround from loading at its Red Sea\u00a0ports.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">(Reporting by Trixie Yap;
