S&amp;P 500 futures jumped 0.80%, but Nasdaq futures shot up 1.28%.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">South Korea\u2019s Kospi index, which has been a bellwether for global stocks lately, climbed 74 points, or 1.1%, as chip heavyweights <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/sk-hynix\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/sk-hynix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">SK Hynix<\/a> and <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/samsung-electronics\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/samsung-electronics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Samsung<\/a> reached new deals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">U.S. oil prices tumbled 5.44% to $84.45 a barrel, and Brent crude dived 5.25% to $91.70. Gold rose 1.15% to $4,118 per ounce.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">President Donald Trump and Iranian officials have said both sides are actively engaged in diplomacy after nearly two weeks of daily bombardment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Separately, Iran and Oman are also in talks, with a potential deal coming together that centers around having <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/26\/us-iran-deal-talks-vessel-transit-strait-of-hormuz-restrictions-ships\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/26\/us-iran-deal-talks-vessel-transit-strait-of-hormuz-restrictions-ships\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Iran run vessel transit through the\u00a0Strait of Hormuz<\/a>\u00a0with fewer restrictions on ships.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The U.S. and Iran\u2019s neighbors are unlikely to accept any arrangement that recognizes Tehran\u2019s control over the narrow waterway.\u00a0But Trump is also <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/25\/trump-no-levers-pull-oil-100-psychological-threshold\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/25\/trump-no-levers-pull-oil-100-psychological-threshold\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">running out of options<\/a> to ease strains in the oil market, which is <a aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/26\/mideast-oil-iran-war-hormuz-red-sea-black-sea-refined-products-supply-crisis\/\" href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2026\/07\/26\/mideast-oil-iran-war-hormuz-red-sea-black-sea-refined-products-supply-crisis\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">headed for a crisis<\/a> as inventories hit critically low levels. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Meanwhile, the U.S. has surged more troops and aircraft the Mideast in case Trump wants to resume major combat operations.
