{"id":225850,"date":"2026-07-28T09:32:10","date_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:32:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/225850\/"},"modified":"2026-07-28T09:32:10","modified_gmt":"2026-07-28T09:32:10","slug":"iran-backed-iraqi-militias-likely-behind-drones-intercepted-near-israel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/225850\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran-backed Iraqi militias likely behind drones intercepted near Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/defense-and-tech\/article-903875\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">drones<\/a> that were intercepted over Jordan on Monday and Tuesday were likely launched by Iran-backed Shi&#8217;ite <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-898441\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">militias<\/a> in Iraq, a source told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The IDF intercepted two drones at approximately 11 a.m. on Monday, and a third shortly before 6 a.m. on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;The aircraft did not cross into Israeli territory, and the source of the launch is under investigation,&#8221; the IDF said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of writing, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/iran-news\/article-898241\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Popular Mobilization Forces<\/a> (PMF), the largest alliance of Iran-backed militias in Iraq, had not claimed either drone launch on its official social media or website.<\/p>\n<p>The PMF, which includes well-armed and large militias such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-876241\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Badr<\/a> and Kataib Hezbollah, has launched attacks on infrastructure belonging to institutions and countries that the Islamic Regime has viewed as an enemy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">This includes reports of targeting the Kurdistan Regional Government&#8217;s buildings in Erbil, as well as US bases in Jordan and Syria, and oil infrastructure in Saudi Arabia.
