In a recent exploration into which nations had the highest density of global talent, Israel ranked the highest in the world. Based on LinkedIn data, 2.1% of LinkedIn members registered in Israel in 2025 were classified as AI talent<\/a>, representing the highest volume in the study and ranking far higher than second-place Singapore.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Ranking around fifth globally for private sector investment with around $19 billion invested in AI-related companies between 2013 and 2025, Israel has long been a nation that\u2019s punched above its weight when it comes to the development of transformative technologies, but now it appears to be shaping up to become a global focal point for not only R&D but also developing successful AI applications at scale.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

This has helped Israel to excel as an early mover in many different areas of artificial intelligence, including healthcare, security, and physical AI.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

It\u2019s this ability to work frictionlessly with international peers that\u2019s also proving to be a major boost for the nation\u2019s AI prowess.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

With this in mind, let\u2019s take a deeper look at how Israel has established itself as a global AI sandbox and how it\u2019s helping to improve domestic industries at scale:\u00a0\n<\/p>\n

Delivering Leading Healthcare
\nIn recent days, we\u2019ve seen Sheba Medical Center in Ramat Gan announce a collaboration with OpenAI<\/a> to deploy the company\u2019s enterprise healthcare AI platform, which is expected to give physicians, nurses, researchers, and staff secure access to an AI-powered clinical reasoning tool to establish faster, evidence-based medical decisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The agreement will make the medical center OpenAI\u2019s first international hospital partner as part of its ambitions to become a fully AI-powered facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n

OpenAI is one of the biggest names in AI throughout the world, and now Sheba Medical Center staff will gain access to the firm\u2019s ChatGPT for Healthcare platform, which has the ability to synthesize peer-reviewed studies, clinical guidelines, and public health sources, with citations and publication dates attached to each response for clinicians to verify evidence.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The news comes as Israeli medical device company TriO announced the creation of a product that\u2019s geared towards reducing the number<\/a> of limb amputations resulting from diabetic foot ulcers.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The rate of innovation that\u2019s sweeping through Israel\u2019s healthcare sector is no accident. In July, Israel\u2019s Health Ministry and Innovation Authority launched a first-of-its-kind regulatory sandbox<\/a> to test advanced AI systems in healthcare, with Plessanmore, Cordio Medical, and Simhawk all spearheading trials on high-autonomy AI technologies in real clinical settings.\u00a0<\/p>\n

It\u2019s this commitment to the development of AI tools in healthcare that could lead to sweeping improvements to the quality of life of patients around the world.\u00a0
\nLeading Cybersecurity Innovation
\nAlongside OpenAI, Microsoft\u2019s Israeli cyber team has also used the country\u2019s status as a growing artificial intelligence hub to unveil a new cybersecurity system<\/a> called Perception, which has been developed to transform cyber defense for the AI era.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The system will also be accompanied by a new AI model for cybersecurity that Microsoft has claimed can outperform Anthropic\u2019s Claude-based cyber model in identifying software vulnerabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Israel has played a leading role in the development of the technology, with some of its capabilities having been worked on and refined at Microsoft\u2019s Israeli R&D center in Herzliya.\u00a0

\nWe\u2019re also seeing Israel become a global leader in the development of \u2018physical AI,\u2019 which is defined by the use of artificial intelligence sensors alongside hardware and actuators to perceive, understand, and act in real-world environments.\u00a0<\/p>\n

There are currently 125 Israeli startups<\/a> in the physical AI sector, and together, they\u2019ve raised more than $10 billion, produced eight unicorns, and generated 24 exits, showing the true strength in the nation\u2019s high-tech ecosystem while taking all of AI\u2019s application cases into account.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Use cases in physical AI are not only being refined alongside US AI leaders but also with peers around the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n

With China\u2019s emerging status as a leader in autonomous vehicle technology and robotics, the China-Israel Innovation Hub, which is located in the Putuo district, is a hub that hosts an industrial cluster of over 200 enterprises<\/a> from China and Israel focusing on various applications of AI.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This global reach for Israeli innovation means that domestic startups can benefit not only from venture capital in the US but also from growth by entering Chinese markets<\/a> and gaining a deeper level of access to supply chains.\u00a0
