Welcome back to the\u00a0City AM\u00a0FTSE 100 liveblog.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Wednesday and the UK\u2019s blue-chip index has jumped on the market open, brushing off the latest outbreak of attacks in the Middle East. <\/p>\n

The US launched joint strikes with Saudi Arabia against Tehran-backed militias in Iraq after Washington claimed its forces in the Middle East were targeted by \u201can attempted surprise attack\u201d by Iran. <\/p>\n

The FTSE 100 had been making gains earlier in the week, as oil prices fell during a pause in fighting between the US and Iran. The blue-chip index closed on a 0.8 per cent gain on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Brent crude, the international benchmark, fell by 4.8 per cent to $84.09 per barrel but began to rear up again in early trading on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Aberdeen was the FTSE 100\u2019s biggest faller on Wednesday morning. This is despite a surge in inflows at investment platform Interactive Investor pushing the firm\u2019s pre-tax profit up two per cent to \u00a3276m.<\/p>\n

Rival wealth manager Rathbones took a near \u00a31bn hit in net outflows as it braces for the fallout of a competition probe over compliance shortcomings. The firm slipped 0.7 per cent on early trading.<\/p>\n

Greggs was among the highest risers on Wednesday morning, gaining 8.7 per cent to 1,838p after notching a 20 per cent jump in pre-tax profit to \u00a376m and doubling down on plans to reach as many as 3,500 stores across the UK.<\/p>\n
