Senate Democrats have tried and failed to convince enough of their Republican colleagues to consistently buck the war over a dozen times as it stretches into its fifth month.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">The latest effort from Sen. <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968134\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/kirsten-gillibrand\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Kirsten Gillibrand,<\/a> D-N.Y., failed along similar lines as last week\u2019s effort, where only a small cohort of Senate Republicans crossed the aisle to end the war.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968135\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/republicans-fall-line-trump-iran-war-despite-rising-costs-us-death-toll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">REPUBLICANS FALL IN LINE WITH TRUMP ON IRAN WAR DESPITE RISING COSTS AND US DEATH TOLL<\/a><\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/donald-trump-oval-office-1.png\" alt=\"President Donald Trump\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump during an announcement in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington, D.C., on July 29, 2026. Bill Cassidy, R-La., who got into a shouting match with Trump and demanded a briefing on the situation in Iran.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">He got that briefing and has since flipped his vote, which he acknowledged was used as &#8220;leverage to get some information.&#8221; Still, he doesn\u2019t totally support what\u2019s going on, but used &#8220;All the King&#8217;s Men&#8221; as an example to show that the situation and the politics of it are not black and white.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;It is a gradation,&#8221; Cassidy said. &#8220;What we&#8217;re doing here is a gradation, a murkiness, a vagueness, but we&#8217;re trying to see our way through it. And I&#8217;m trying to see my way through it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968136\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/watch-schumers-anti-corruption-speech-derailed-after-heckler-brands-him-genocidal-maniac\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">WATCH: SCHUMER&#8217;S ANTI-CORRUPTION SPEECH DERAILED AFTER HECKLER BRANDS HIM &#8216;GENOCIDAL MANIAC&#8217;<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">But he drew a hardline on ground troops entering Iran.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;If there are ground troops, by definition, there needs to be a declaration of war from Congress on this, period,&#8221; Cassidy said.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">The latest votes come as reports of munitions continuing to dwindle have reverberated through Congress, and as the Pentagon and War Secretary <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968138\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/person\/pete-hegseth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">Pete Hegseth<\/a> plead for more defense funding.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968139\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/hegseth-dismisses-foolish-us-stockpile-concerns-iran-conflict-tests-munitions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">HEGSETH DISMISSES \u2018FOOLISH\u2019 US STOCKPILE CONCERNS AS IRAN CONFLICT TESTS MUNITIONS<\/a><\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/07\/thaad-3.jpg\" alt=\"THAAD missile defense system test\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>The THAAD missile defense system is shown here being tested in Kodiak, Alaska, in July 2017.\u00a0 (Leah Garton\/Missile Defense Agency\/Reuters)<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., who has been wary of the war but has so far not broken with Trump to back Democrats\u2019 resolutions, said, &#8220;Obviously, it\u2019s concerning&#8221; that the nation\u2019s munitions stockpile is dropping, but countered that a closed-door debriefing on the matter could sate concerns.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;And of course, if they are chronically low and affecting war strategy, then we should make it a priority,&#8221; Tillis said.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">When asked whether he had been <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968140\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-tillis-tiff-deepens-president-says-he-quit-concedes-fed-fight-could-doom-new-chair-confirmation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">adequately briefed,<\/a> Tillis said, &#8220;No.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">Munitions have been a concern throughout the war in Iran, and with renewed strikes starting last week, they are again back at the forefront of the conversation about the strategy in <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968141\" href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/world\/world-regions\/middle-east\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">the region.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">A <a data-omtr-intcmp=\"fnc_politics_article_main-content_article-body_6_1968142\" href=\"https:\/\/www.csis.org\/analysis\/renewed-iran-war-would-test-diminished-interceptor-inventories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">report released Monday<\/a> from the Center for Strategic and International Studies found, for example, that renewed fighting in the Middle East found that Patriot and THAAD interceptor missiles, which are used to thwart incoming projectiles and drones, had dwindled from prewar inventories of 2,330 and 452, respectively, to 759 and 234 missiles.<\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\"><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.onelink.me\/xLDS?pid=AppArticleLink&amp;af_dp=foxnewsaf%3A%2F%2F&amp;af_web_dp=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.foxnews.com%2Fapps-products\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THE FOX NEWS APP<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-layout-index=\"5\">&#8220;I think there&#8217;s pretty solid information that our military is short on munitions, not their fault,&#8221; Sen.
