That, of course, hasn\u2019t stopped Donald Trump from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/07\/31\/trump-minnesota-water-hacks-iran-01021161\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">sharing his own theory<\/a> \u2014 that Governor Tim Walz is to blame and telling reporters that \u201cI don\u2019t think there was an Iranian cyberattack.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph _1044qizi _18mzr4b1 _18mzr4b0 _19wv7tc1\">Trump\u2019s comments come shortly after the FBI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ic3.gov\/PSA\/2026\/PSA260730.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">issued a warning<\/a> that the cyberattacks on American infrastructure were spreading to other states. In Minnesota alone, at least 30 community water systems had been targeted in what appeared to be a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/07\/30\/us\/politics\/minnesota-water-cyberattack-iran.html?partner=slack&amp;smid=sl-share\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">coordinated attack<\/a>. The CISA has linked similar attacks earlier in the year to Iran, which has been the target of an on-again-off-again war waged by the US government.
