{"id":231861,"date":"2026-08-01T19:08:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-01T19:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/231861\/"},"modified":"2026-08-01T19:08:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-01T19:08:15","slug":"gaslog-lng-carrier-damaged-exiting-hormuz-as-ukmto-reports-two-new-attacks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/231861\/","title":{"rendered":"GasLog LNG Carrier Damaged Exiting Hormuz as UKMTO Reports Two New Attacks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A GasLog-operated LNG carrier sustained damage while exiting the Strait of Hormuz on Friday as maritime security authorities reported two separate security incidents near the strategic waterway, highlighting the continued risks facing commercial shipping in the region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GasLog confirmed that its LNG carrier\u00a0GasLog Shanghai\u00a0was involved in an incident on July 31 while departing the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cEveryone onboard is safe and accounted for and the vessel is stable,\u201d the company said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">GasLog said it immediately activated its emergency response plan, notified the relevant authorities, and is assessing the vessel\u2019s condition while prioritizing the safety of its crew.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The company did not disclose the nature or extent of the damage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The statement came hours after the UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) issued two separate attack warnings in the Strait of Hormuz near the U.S.-coordinated Omani route. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most serious incident occurred about\u00a011 nautical miles northeast of Lima, Oman, where the company security officer of a tanker reported the vessel had been struck by an\u00a0unknown projectile, causing damage to its engine room. The vessel was reported to be\u00a0not under command\u00a0following the strike. No casualties or pollution were reported, and regional coast guard authorities were notified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In a separate incident approximately one hour earlier, another tanker transiting\u00a021 nautical miles northeast of Khasab, Oman, reported observing a\u00a0large splash and explosion\u00a0in close proximity to the vessel.
