{"id":232976,"date":"2026-08-02T19:21:35","date_gmt":"2026-08-02T19:21:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/232976\/"},"modified":"2026-08-02T19:21:35","modified_gmt":"2026-08-02T19:21:35","slug":"democratic-senate-candidate-in-michigan-accuses-anti-israel-rival-of-scapegoating-jews","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/232976\/","title":{"rendered":"Democratic Senate candidate in Michigan accuses anti-Israel rival of scapegoating Jews"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US Representative Haley Stevens, a moderate Democratic Senate candidate from Michigan, on Friday accused her primary rival Abdul El-Sayed of blaming all of his problems on Jewish Americans after he again took aim at the pro-Israel AIPAC lobby.<\/p>\n<p>In a social media clip that went viral, El-Sayed is heard urging AIPAC to \u201ccome for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou picked [Stevens] the least capable candidate in America\u2026 If you think you can beat money out of politics, money in your pocket, medicare for all, come. I\u2019ll tell you what people don\u2019t want: they don\u2019t want money in a foreign government,\u201d he said, referring to AIPAC, which has spent heavily in the campaign against him.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to those remarks, Stevens suggested El-Sayed will be a less viable candidate in the general election versus a Republican, before telling him that \u201ceveryone in America understands you want to blame all of your problems on Jewish Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet me be very clear, I will lower the costs of groceries, ban stock trading for elected officials, stop Trump\u2019s abuses of power, and protect Michigan manufacturing,\u201d Stevens, who is not Jewish, wrote on X. \u201cAnd you\u2019ll just be a celebrity whining and writing books to get even richer. I was capable of winning my competitive primary and general election. If El-Sayed wins in a swing state, some fear more candidates with similar views will follow, and lead to an unsafe environment for Jews in Michigan and beyond.\n<\/p>\n<p>The nationwide importance of the race and the Jewish vote was underscored when New York State Republicans recently made an explicit appeal for Jewish Democrats, stating in a digital ad campaign that Jews were leaving the party \u201cin droves\u201d \u201cfrom Maine to Michigan.\u201d Before he dropped out as the Democratic Senate nominee in Maine over sexual assault allegations he has denied, Graham Platner put anti-Israel criticism near the center of his platform, and opposition to the Jewish state has also helped fuel the primary wins of left-wing candidates in New York, Colorado and elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n\t\t\t\tWe can&#8217;t do this work alone.\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Untitled-design-4-200x200.jpg\" class=\"attachment-square size-square wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"\"\/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The war with Iran has been draining for all of us in Israel.
