Iranian official Mohsen Rezaei said Iran had considered striking three targets inside Ukraine.<\/p>\n

However, according to Rezaei, the plan was abandoned after Ukraine allegedly issued an apology.<\/p>\n

“We were prepared to attack three targets in Ukraine, but after the country apologized we canceled the attack,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to the outlet, Rezaei”s remarks came amid Tehran’s threats to respond to an attack on an Iranian vessel in the Caspian Sea in late July.<\/p>\n

On July 26, Iran accused <\/a>Ukraine of attacking a civilian vessel in the Caspian Sea, claiming that one sailor was killed and another wounded.<\/p>\n

At the same time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported <\/a>a successful long-range strike on a ship that, according to him, was being used to transport military cargo to Russia.<\/p>\n

According to media reports, Iran was considering a missile strike <\/a>on one of Ukraine’s seaports in retaliation for the Caspian Sea incident.<\/p>\n

Following the incident, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha held a phone call<\/a> with his Iranian counterpart.
