{"id":237955,"date":"2026-08-06T05:56:07","date_gmt":"2026-08-06T05:56:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/237955\/"},"modified":"2026-08-06T05:56:07","modified_gmt":"2026-08-06T05:56:07","slug":"gideon-saar-visits-ecuador-colombia-to-deepen-diplomatic-ties","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/237955\/","title":{"rendered":"Gideon Sa&#8217;ar visits Ecuador, Colombia to deepen diplomatic ties"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Foreign Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/gideon-saar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Gideon Sa\u2019ar<\/a> began a diplomatic visit to South America on Wednesday, with stops in Ecuador and Colombia aimed at strengthening Israel&#8217;s diplomatic engagement across Latin America.<\/p>\n<p>The visit includes official meetings with government leaders and senior officials, as well as Sa&#8217;ar&#8217;s participation in Friday&#8217;s inauguration ceremony of Colombia&#8217;s President <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/business-and-innovation\/article-904301\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Abelardo de la Espriella<\/a>, where he will represent the State of Israel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">During the inauguration events, Sa&#8217;ar is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with political leaders and senior officials from across the continent as part of Israel&#8217;s broader diplomatic outreach in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The visit follows an announcement made two weeks ago that Sa&#8217;ar and Colombia&#8217;s designated foreign minister, Omar Bula Escobar, reached an agreement to relocate Colombia&#8217;s embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, marking a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-902698\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">significant development<\/a> in bilateral relations.<\/p>\n<p>Before traveling to Colombia, Sa&#8217;ar is making an official visit to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-887952\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Ecuador<\/a>. According to the Foreign Ministry, the trip marks the first visit by an Israeli foreign minister to the country in 44 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Speaking ahead of the visit, Sa&#8217;ar said Israel has made significant progress in rebuilding and expanding its relationships throughout Latin America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;Through determined and systematic diplomatic efforts, we have succeeded in strengthening and renewing Israel&#8217;s relations with many countries across Latin America,&#8221; Sa&#8217;ar said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">&#8220;We are continuing our effort to bring Latin America closer to Israel.
