AIPAC says 30 pro-Israel candidates won other primary elections this week.

Contentious tactics

Illinois proved another interesting case study on AIPAC’s strategies during the state’s primary elections earlier this year.

Forty-six Democrats competed for the party’s nomination in four key seats around Chicago.

At least some of those candidates had meetings with AIPAC. But the four AIPAC-backed candidates would not give “yes” or “no” answers, WBEZ reported.

AIPAC and its affiliates spent millions supporting those candidates. In the end, two of the four AIPAC-backed candidates won their races.

Trump’s ‘Mini-Mamdani’ crackdown

Democratic socialism is on the rise in the US, and it is sparking a sharp campaign from Republicans.

Other candidates said AIPAC-linked funding had been disguised and deceptively spent. She called it a “cheap attempt to smear my name”.

Amiwala was not a frontrunner in her race. But Abughazaleh, a prominent local influencer who had used her platforms to criticise AIPAC and Israel, was.

So some candidates saw the move as a calculated attempt to split the anti-Israel vote to damage Abughazaleh’s chances.

Abughazaleh was narrowly beaten by Daniel Biss, the mayor of a Chicago suburb.

After Kat Abughazaleh lost her primary race by a few thousand votes, AIPAC said it was “very proud to help defeat her”. He expects a larger proportion to go towards supporting Republicans.

But he says AIPAC-linked money is becoming more difficult to track.

One reason is because its members can donate to candidates through online portals that have been set up to prevent donors’ identities becoming public.

“It’s definitely getting harder, and that’s intentional, and that’s a reaction to the work that we’re doing,” he said.

“Every dollar that we report, we can account for, but it’s probably an under-count to say the least.”

After Jamaal Bowman left his job as a New York school principal to run for Congress in 2020,…

[33
2922,671,467,2524,37,12339,392,256,1537
post-241376","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-israel","tag-aipac","tag-america","tag-congress","tag-donald","tag-israel","tag-midterms","tag-trump","tag-usa","tag-white-house
["GET
