href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/colombia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Colombia<\/a> in a statement from the Government Press Office on Wednesday evening.<\/p>\n<p>Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella asked Netanyahu to send a delegation to the country following an earthquake with a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/environment-and-climate-change\/article-905085\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">magnitude of 7.4<\/a> on Monday, the statement explained.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The earthquake, which occured in the heart of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-905182\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Colombia&#8217;s coffee region<\/a>, killed at least 250 people and reduced multi-story buildings to rubble in cities such as Pereira and Cali.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">It also caused one of the towers of a historic cathedral in the city of Manizales to crack apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Emergency teams aided by police, soldiers, and volunteers have been working with excavators and, at times, their bare hands, hunting for survivors beneath debris.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">This request came amid efforts to improve relations between the two countries, part of Foreign Minister Gideon Sa\u2019ar\u2019s broader initiative to improve relations with South American countries, with the Foreign Ministry designating 2026 as the \u201cYear of Latin America.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colombia recognized Israel&#8217;s sovereignty over the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/article-905102\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Golan Height<\/a>s in a statement released by the country&#8217;s Foreign Ministry on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In the statement, published on X\/Twitter, the ministry recognized Israeli control over the area as \u201can essential component of its national defense and its ability to protect and safeguard its citizens.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The recognition resulted from a
