Residents of Al-Tar subdistrict in southern Iraq\u2019s Dhi Qar
\nprovince staged a large protest and blocked roads with burning tires, demanding
\nthe restoration of electricity they said had been diverted to Al-Fuhud district,
\nShafaq News correspondent reported on Wednesday. <\/p>\n
Protesters accused provincial officials of diverting
\nAl-Tar\u2019s electricity allocation and redirecting it to other areas to contain
\ndemonstrators, Shafaq News correspondent reported.<\/p>\n
Al-Fuhud witnessed demonstrations<\/a> on August 9 and 10 over Earlier today, Basra Governor Asaad Al-Eidani denied<\/a> that
\npoor electricity supply, with activists blocking several roads with burning
\ntires and demanding the dismissal of Dhi Qar Electricity Director Mohammed
\nRuwaiydi. Two demonstrators were injured when security forces dispersed the
\nrally.<\/p>\n
\nany part of the province\u2019s electricity allocation would be diverted to
\nneighboring Dhi Qar, pointing out that the two provinces had discussed
\nelectricity and grid problems. <\/p>\n
