It said the Strait of Hormuz \u201cremains blocked\u201d and would not be reopened until Iran\u2019s conditions were accepted, <a href=\"https:\/\/pakobserver.net\/iran-rejects-us-claims-of-total-control-over-strait-of-hormuz\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pakistan Observer <\/a>reported.<\/p>\n<p>The statement came after US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the United States was in control of the strategic waterway. Writing on Truth Social, Trump said: \u201cThe USA has total control over the <a href=\"https:\/\/caspianpost.com\/iran\/iran-says-hormuz-will-stay-closed-until-us-changes-its-behavior\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Strait of Hormuz,<\/a>\u201d adding that he believed the US would maintain control through what he described as a \u201cWALL OF STEEL.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi criticised France over its position on human rights, international law and the conflict in Gaza. In a post on X, he said France should stop \u201clecturing the world\u201d about human rights and international law, calling the alleged hypocrisy \u201cblatant and embarrassing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Araghchi also accused France of backing Israel\u2019s actions in Gaza and aggression against Iran, saying this had \u201cdestroyed whatever moral high ground\u201d France believed it had.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, there was no discussion between Iran and the United States about extending their ceasefire, a senior Iranian source told Reuters. The source said Tehran considered that the agreement had no start date and therefore nothing to extend.<\/p>\n<p>The comments followed a report by T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s Anadolu agency, citing Pakistani government sources, that Iran and the US had agreed to extend a 60-day ceasefire under an interim agreement signed in June.
