Sen. Jon Ossoff<\/a> (D-Ga.) on Wednesday called the Iran war a \u201ccomplete fiasco\u201d from President Donald Trump<\/a>, highlighting just how badly the MAGA leader and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth<\/a> have failed the American people and their many promises of a swift resolution.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we have to step back and recognize that this entire war is based on lies,\u201d Ossoff said<\/a>. \u201cThey told us last year that the Iranian nuclear threat was \u2018obliterated.\u2019 Then they told us earlier this year that there was an \u2018imminent\u2019 nuclear threat. Both times, lies.\u201d<\/p>\n

The senator continued, \u201cOn day four of this war, President Trump declared victory. Months ago, Secretary Hegseth said that all of our objectives had been achieved. The war continues: Iran still has its uranium, [the Strait of] Hormuz remains closed. This is a complete fiasco.\u201d<\/p>\n

When the Georgia Democrat asked Hegseth if his claim mere weeks into the war that the U.S. had \u201cachieved every single objective\u201d was an accurate statement, Hegseth said it \u201ccertainly\u201d was<\/a> \u2014 and that he had overseen a \u201chistoric military victory\u201d over Iran.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Sen.
