WCPO-9.<\/a><\/p>\nRoberts is facing first-degree assault charges for pepper spraying Allen six times in the face while Allen was on the ground in hand restraints. <\/p>\n
The incident allegedly happened after Allen was accused of getting into a fight with his cellmate. <\/p>\n
Roberts and Ramsey are both facing charges of dereliction of duty for allegedly taking more than 10 minutes to check Allen\u2019s vitals. <\/p>\n
Allen\u2019s family believes the two employees should be facing murder charges. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe want these charges upgraded to murder,\u201d said Rose Sailes, Allen\u2019s mother. \u201cLaSelle Linden Allen\u2019s life mattered, and justice is what we\u2019re asking for. They\u2019re at home with their families while my baby is dead\u201d<\/p>\n
Allen\u2019s sister said that he wasn\u2019t sentenced to death and that he wasn\u2019t supposed to have been punished twice. <\/p>\n
His family said that they will continue to speak out on behalf of Allen, who was a father of 10. <\/p>\n
Chazidy Robinson, an advocate on behalf of the family, said, \u201cWhat we\u2019re asking is we pay attention to the facts of the case and not why LaSelle was there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roberts and Ramasy were placed on administrative leave following Allen\u2019s death.<\/p>\n
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating the case and has not commented since the investigation is still open. <\/p>\n
A pretrial hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29.<\/p>\n
