{"id":251988,"date":"2026-08-17T01:13:33","date_gmt":"2026-08-17T01:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/251988\/"},"modified":"2026-08-17T01:13:33","modified_gmt":"2026-08-17T01:13:33","slug":"israel-and-honduras-strengthen-defense-ties-with-new-agreement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/251988\/","title":{"rendered":"Israel and Honduras strengthen defense ties with new agreement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Israel and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/politics-and-diplomacy\/article-904443\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Honduras<\/a> entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Honduras in a Sunday signing ceremony, the Defense Ministry announced in a statement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/defense-news\/article-905517\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Defense Minister Israel Katz<\/a> and his Honduran counterpart, Enrique Rodr\u00edguez Burchard signed the deal, which is meant to &#8220;deepen defense cooperation&#8221; between the countries, the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The ceremony was also attended by Israel Ministry of Defense (IMOD) Director General Maj. Gen. (Res.) Amir Baram, the Senior Deputy Head of the Policy and Political-Military Bureau, Israel\u2019s Defense Attach\u00e9 to Honduras, and other senior officials from both countries.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">During the visit, said the statement, the Honduran Minister of Defense, the Minister of Internal Security, and the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Honduran Armed Forces participated in &#8220;wide-ranging security discussions&#8221; with Baram.<\/p>\n<p>A part of the discussions held included shared strategic and security issues, as well as ways to expand cooperation, the ministry said. Further, the Honduran officials were briefed on &#8220;key lessons&#8221; learnt from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/middle-east\/article-899754\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Israel&#8217;s wars in the past few years<\/a>. Additionally, the delegation was informed about the IMOD&#8217;s current activities, &#8220;as well as key aspects of Israel&#8217;s defense and defense-industrial establishment.<\/p>\n<p>This Memorandum of Understanding is a part of a series of agreements designed by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/defense-and-tech\/article-904486\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">IMOD<\/a> over the past year, the statement said, casting these moves as &#8220;part of the Ministry\u2019s strategy to expand Israel\u2019s circle of defense partnerships, strengthen strategic ties with friendly nations, and deepen cooperation between Israel\u2019s defense industries and international markets.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The statement described Honduras as an &#8220;important partner&#8221; in Central America, and one that has supported Israel internationally over the years.
