Shafaq News- Maysan<\/p>\n

The Halfaya oilfield, one of
\nsouthern Iraq\u2019s largest, is processing about 190 million standard cubic feet of
\nassociated gas per day to supply power plants in Maysan province and support
\nthe national grid, Deputy Oil Minister for Extraction Affairs Naseer Aziz
\nannounced on Monday.<\/p>\n

In a statement, Aziz said the gas
\nprocessing project reached the current level in early 2026, against a design
\ncapacity of 300 million standard cubic feet per day. The output supplies the
\nstate-run Al-Amarah power plant as well as the Maysan Investment and Al-Kahlaa
\nplants, while the field produces about 400,000 barrels of crude oil per day.<\/p>\n

The official reaffirmed the
\nministry\u2019s support for associated gas projects as part of efforts to reduce
\nflaring and strengthen energy security, with the country aiming to end<\/a> the
\npractice nationwide by 2029.<\/p>\n

Iraq holds<\/a> about 125 trillion cubic
\nfeet of proven natural gas reserves, ranking 11th globally in 2025, according
\nto the Energy Institute\u2019s Statistical Review of World Energy.<\/p>\n

In July 2026, Iraq signed<\/a> the Arab
\nworld\u2019s largest oil and gas deals, topping regional energy investment with
\nprojects focused on boosting production and expanding infrastructure,
