Iraq\u2019s\u00a0four top state authorities renewed call on Monday
\nfor all weapons to be placed under state control, \u201csaying the move is essential to reinforce state authority and the rule of law, particularly
\nfollowing the start of the Global Coalition\u2019s withdrawal from Iraq.<\/p>\n
In a statement following a meeting of the president of
\nIraq, the prime minister, parliament speaker and the head of the Supreme
\nJudicial Council, the officials stressed the importance of strengthening and
\ndeveloping the capabilities of Iraq\u2019s armed forces “across all formations”\u00a0and protecting the country and its citizens.<\/p>\n
