WASHINGTON \u2014\u00a0A Democratic Socialists of America <\/a>candidate running for Congress in Florida appeared to cut a weekend TV interview short when the journo started fact-checking his allegation that Israel is committing genocide.<\/p>\n

Wannabe House member Oliver Larkin, who is vying to unseat Dem Rep. Jared Moskowitz<\/a>, pointed to the United Nations, Amnesty International and some Israeli human-rights organizations in trying to make the claim, but top \u201cThis Week in South Florida\u201d host Glenna Milberg wasn\u2019t having it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is factually incorrect,\u201d she bluntly told him. \u201cThere\u2019s the definition of genocide in the UN. The UN has said this does not apply to what many people might think of as a disproportionate wartime action.<\/p>\n

\u201cGenocide is a very specific thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two went back and forth, and then Milberg announced that she was \u201cbeing told we have to wrap.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post contacted Larkin\u2019s campaign for possible information about why the interview was seemingly cut short, but has yet to get a response.<\/p>\n

During Larkin\u2019s interview with Local 10, Milberg noted that about one in four voters in Florida\u2019s newly configured 25th Congressional District are Jewish.<\/p>\n

At one point, Larkin claimed that the Israeli Defense Force \u201cdeliberately targeted women and children\u201d in Gaza, but Milberg told him that wasn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n

Larkin has pummeled Moskowitz over his positions supporting Israel and the backing he has received from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.<\/p>\n

Moskowitz has long been willing to punch the far-left, which has made him a prime target for DSA types. His South Florida seat has also generally been seen as competitive, with the Cook Political Report<\/a> rating it as a toss-up.<\/p>\n

His rival wants to cut off funding to Israel, abolish Immigration and Customs Enforcement and pass the left\u2019s multitrillion-dollar Medicare for All plan<\/p>\n

The district includes many immigrants who fled socialism abroad, but Larkin insisted he would be able to make inroads with them nonetheless.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe operative word is democratic, that I want popular collective input over the systems that govern our lives,\u201d he said when asked about socialism.<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in upholding our civil and constitutional rights,\u201d he insisted, adding that \u201cmany people fled, places like Cuba or Nicaragua, as my wife\u2019s parents did back in the 1980s, looking for a better life in the United States of America.\u201d<\/p>\n

The primary race for the seat, which is slated to take place Tuesday, will be yet another test of how the far-left fares in swing districts.<\/p>\n
