{"id":255393,"date":"2026-08-19T01:42:19","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T01:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/255393\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T01:42:19","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T01:42:19","slug":"hands-on-history-returns-to-brownsville-aug-22","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/255393\/","title":{"rendered":"Hands on History returns to Brownsville Aug. 22"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Mandy Cole<br \/>Linn County Historical Museum<\/p>\n<p>The fifth \u201cHands on History\u201d day will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, at Library Park, next door to the Linn County Historical Museum at 101 Park Ave., in Brownsville.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-558313\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2025-Gold-Panning-278x400.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"278\" height=\"400\"  \/>Hands on History day includes a wide range of opportunities to learn what life was like in past generations, including panning for gold and spinning. \u2013 Linn County Museum photos<\/p>\n<p>The event is planned as a fun day in the park, providing opportunities to experience traditional pioneer and Native American skills, activities and crafts.<\/p>\n<p>It is free, fun and a learning opportunity for the whole family.<\/p>\n<p>Come listen to old-time fiddlers, marvel at the skills of the tinsmith, hear authentic Kalapuyan stories, enjoy wagon rides, or pan for gold. These are just a few of the traditional hands-on activities inviting children and grown-ups to join in.<\/p>\n<p>Learn how obsidian projectile points are flaked, hear about challenges faced by Black pioneers, or try your hand at spinning wool.
