Iraq\u2019s healthcare sector could face a crisis that would
\nbecome difficult to contain if the country\u2019s financial problems persist, the
\nhead of Parliament\u2019s Health and Anti-Narcotics Committee warned on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
Adila Hamoud called on the Health Ministry to prioritize
\nmaintaining a minimum level of healthcare services and establish a permanent
\ncrisis team involving ministry departments and health directorates.<\/p>\n
She also urged the ministry to press the government to
\nrelease funds allocated for medicines and medical supplies for patients with
\ncancer, blood and heart diseases, and kidney failure, as well as emergency
\nsupplies and vaccines. \u201cFunding was also needed to keep operating rooms and
\nemergency departments functioning.\u201d<\/p>\n
