SINGAPORE, Aug 21 (Reuters) – Ship crossings at the Strait of Hormuz \u200bchokepoint were down on Thursday \u200cfrom the previous day, initial shipping data showed, amid growing concern over \u200brisks to shipping in \u200bthe Middle East, with US-Iran \u2060peace talks remaining in limbo.<\/p>\n

Thursday’s \u200btally of seven commodity ships \u200bwas half that of Wednesday, Kpler data showed. Of these, four \u200bships were entering and three \u200bexiting the waterway used by nearly a \u200cfifth \u2060of global shipments of crude oil and liquefied natural gas before the war.<\/p>\n

No very \u200blarge \u200bcrude carriers \u2060or liquefied natural gas tankers were in \u200bthe mix.<\/p>\n

However, one very \u200blarge \u2060gas carrier – carrying propane and butane – did transit out \u2060of \u200bHormuz via the \u200bIranian route, the data showed.<\/p>\n
