{"id":258796,"date":"2026-08-21T10:06:09","date_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/258796\/"},"modified":"2026-08-21T10:06:09","modified_gmt":"2026-08-21T10:06:09","slug":"ships-passing-through-strait-of-hormuz-fall-to-seven","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/258796\/","title":{"rendered":"Ships passing through Strait of Hormuz fall to seven"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>21 August 2026 13:42<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Only seven commodity vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on August 20, half the number recorded a day earlier, according to ship-tracking data from Kpler, as uncertainty over US-Iran peace talks continues to raise concerns about the safety of shipping in the region.<\/p>\n<p>Four vessels entered the strategic waterway while three left it, <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219); font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/caliber.az\/en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Caliber.Az<\/a> reports, citing <a style=\"color: rgb(53, 152, 219); font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/hormuz-ship-crossings-hover-single-digits-data-shows-2026-08-21\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Reuters<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before the war began in February, the strait handled nearly one-fifth of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.<\/p>\n<p>None of the seven vessels was a very large crude carrier (VLCC) or liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanker.<\/p>\n<p>However, Kpler data showed that one very large gas carrier carrying propane and butane passed out of the strait using the Iranian route.<\/p>\n<p>Shipping activity also declined slightly on Thursday in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait compared with the previous two days.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 23 commodity vessels transited the waterway, down from 34 on each of the previous two days. Of those, 16 entered the strait, and seven exited, according to Kpler.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the seven vessels leaving the Bab el-Mandeb were Suezmax crude oil tankers, the Stoic Warrior and Dokos.
