Asaib Ahl Al-Haq*, one of Iraq\u2019s most powerful
\nIran-aligned armed factions, handed over weapons from a base south of Baghdad
\nto state authorities two days ago, sources familiar with the factions\u2019 internal
\ndeliberations told Shafaq News on Friday, pointing to progress in the
\ngovernment\u2019s push to bring arms under state control.<\/p>\n
The transfer in Al-Yusufiyah involved equipment
\nbelonging to Brigades 41 and 42, which operated within the Popular Mobilization
\nForces (PMF), completing their integration into the official security
\nstructure. The arsenal included fewer than 10 locally manufactured and
\nIranian-made drones, all without munitions, alongside other weapons. No
\nmissiles were surrendered.<\/p>\n
According to one source, the committee handling the
\nprocess requires groups to give up missiles with ranges of 300 kilometers or
\nmore. Representatives from the Interior and Defense ministries, the Iraqi
\nNational Security Advisory, and the PMF witnessed and documented the transfer.<\/p>\n
Talks with holdout factions have produced \u201cpositive
\nsignals,\u201d but the second source linked further movement to the departure of US
\nand other foreign troops by Sept. 30 under the Baghdad-Washington security
\nagreement, arguing that their withdrawal would remove a major obstacle to a
\ndeal.<\/p>\n

\ncould continue operating in Iraq, as economic and investment activity would not
\nbe affected by the military departure.<\/p>\n
\nunder government authority, following Patriotic Shiite Movement (PSM) leader
\nMuqtada al-Sadr\u2019s decision to put Saraya al-Salam under state control. Kataib
\nHezbollah, Harakat Al-Nujaba, and Kataib Sayyid Al-Shuhada remain opposed, with
\nKataib Hezbollah conditioning any deal on a complete US withdrawal and
\nguarantees against its return.<\/p>\n
