{"id":260420,"date":"2026-08-22T17:20:11","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T17:20:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/260420\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T17:20:11","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T17:20:11","slug":"avengers-star-mark-ruffalo-attacks-ellison-family-links-oracle-to-israel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/260420\/","title":{"rendered":"Avengers star Mark Ruffalo attacks Ellison family, links Oracle to Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Actor Mark Ruffalo, known for his role in the Avengers films, sparked controversy in Hollywood on Friday night after sharply criticizing the Ellison family and the planned merger between <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/international\/article-898173\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Paramount<\/a> and Warner Bros. by linking the deal to Oracle\u2019s activities in Israel and the war in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p>Paramount, in a rare response, accused Ruffalo&#8217;s criticism of using \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/opinion\/article-899787\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">antisemitic imagery.<\/a>\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">In an Instagram post, Ruffalo shared a video of Safra Catz, vice chair of Oracle, discussing the technological assistance the company provided to Israel following the Hamas-led October 7 attack.<\/p>\n<p>Ruffalo described <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/business-and-innovation\/tech-and-start-ups\/article-903442\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oracle<\/a> as a company that \u201cLarry Ellison uses to fund the purchase of Warner Brothers by his son David.\u201d He then claimed that its technologies \u201cwill probably be merged into one of the largest media corporations in the world, and one day be used against you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Referring to Catz, Ruffalo added: \u201cLook at how she revels in what we now understand as genocide, built on an apartheid system of oppression powered by Oracle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img alt=\"David Ellison, Chairman &amp; CEO, Paramount Skydance speaks on stage during New York Upfront Partnership Event 2026 at Storied NYC on April 22, 2026 in New York City.\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"690\" height=\"510\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent\" src=\"https:\/\/images.jpost.com\/image\/upload\/f_auto,fl_lossy\/c_fill,g_faces:center,h_537,w_822\/734841\"\/>David Ellison, Chairman &amp; CEO, Paramount Skydance speaks on stage during New York Upfront Partnership Event 2026 at Storied NYC on April 22, 2026 in New York City. (credit: Noam Galai\/Getty Images for Paramount)Paramount says Ruffalo&#8217;s comments &#8216;cross the line&#8217;<\/p>\n<p>A Paramount spokesperson told TheWrap that the company is \u201calways troubled when alleged antisemitic imagery is used in the service of a business dispute.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWords like \u2018genocide\u2019 and \u2018apartheid,\u2019 when applied to a corporate transaction, are not only wrong; they cross the line and cheapen the real suffering those words were intended to describe,&#8221; a spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cWe do not tolerate prejudice of any kind, against any person.\u201d Paramount urged those involved to \u201clower the temperature, not raise it,\u201d and claimed Ruffalo\u2019s remarks \u201cexpose the true motive of some of those who have acted against the deal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The studio also stressed that it would not blacklist creators who oppose the merger.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cOur commitment to excellent content matches our commitment to acceptance, for every story, every storyteller, with no blacklists and no exceptions,&#8221; the spokesperson stated.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Ruffalo hits out at Larry Ellison, calls him &#8216;a classic oligarch&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">Ruffalo has opposed the merger for months, arguing that it would harm thousands of Hollywood workers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">He wrote once that he believed that \u201cLarry Ellison is a classic oligarch.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cThey crush workers and concentrate global wealth for the sake of power and control,&#8221; he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The actor cited a report indicating that the merger could result in the loss of approximately 4,500 direct jobs in Los Angeles\u2019s film and television industry, along with thousands of additional jobs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">\u201cMergers like these are almost always bad for workers, consumers, and the industry they take over,&#8221; Ruffalo said.<\/p>\n<p>The latest dispute follows years of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/diaspora\/antisemitism\/article-906022\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">anti-Israel statements<\/a> by Ruffalo. During a September 2025 interview on journalist Mehdi Hasan\u2019s podcast, he called for the \u201cboycott, divestment, sanctions, and prosecution\u201d of Israel and spoke extensively about the war in Gaza.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">A clip from the interview resurfaced in July, in which Ruffalo discussed his relationships with Jewish actors who support Israel.
