Singer Gal De Paz, runner-up on this year\u2019s season of Rising Star, has been cast as Israeli musical icon Shoshana Damari in a new biographical musical<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The production, titled Shoshana, marks De Paz\u2019s theatrical<\/a> acting debut.<\/p>\n

The musical is written and directed by Gadi Tzedaka, the artistic director of the Hebrew Theater<\/a>, where the show is scheduled to premiere in late October.<\/p>\n

Shoshana will trace the singer\u2019s cinematic life story through major formative milestones.<\/p>\n

The narrative follows her arduous immigration to Israel, early integration struggles, departure from her parental home, marriage, and her lengthy journey toward becoming the \u201cQueen of Hebrew Music.\u201d<\/p>\n

The production<\/a> features a live orchestra conducted by Yonatan Perlman, soundtracked by Damari\u2019s timeless catalog of anthems, including: \u201cKalaniyot\u201d (\u201cAnemones\u201d), \u201cShnei Shoshanim\u201d (\u201cTwo Roses\u201d), \u201cHayu Zmanim\u201d (\u201cThere Were Times\u201d), and \u201cOr\u201d (\u201cLight\u201d).<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen they approached me, my immediate thought was the immense weight of responsibility,\u201d De Paz shared regarding the casting.<\/p>\n

\u201cShoshana Damari is part of Israel\u2019s DNA. Coming from music rather than acting, I felt an opportunity to inhabit the character through the medium I know best \u2013 voice, body, stage, and emotion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Tzedaka cited De Paz\u2019s specific performance qualities as crucial for the role, noting shared personality traits such as \u201chumor, sensuality, boldness, and professional perfectionism.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that rehearsals have uncovered a deep emotional capability and an extraordinary stage presence that revitalizes the legendary figure.<\/p>\n

From Rising Star to the stage: De Paz\u2019s musical journey<\/p>\n

The 39-year-old De Paz brings a seasoned musical resume to the stage, despite her rookie status in acting.<\/p>\n

Born in Eilat, she has been an active recording and touring artist for 25 years.<\/p>\n

She is widely recognized as the frontwoman for The De Paz Band and a member of the collective Lucille Crew, boasting a discography of 11 independent and collaborative albums.<\/p>\n

Her industry accolades include opening for Aerosmith at Tel Aviv\u2019s Park HaYarkon in 2017 and collaborating with veteran rockers like Shalom Hanoch and Dudu Tassa.<\/p>\n

Her mainstream breakthrough came earlier this year on Rising Star, where she secured second place behind winner Noam Bettan.<\/p>\n
