{"id":261920,"date":"2026-08-24T03:57:08","date_gmt":"2026-08-24T03:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/261920\/"},"modified":"2026-08-24T03:57:08","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T03:57:08","slug":"israeli-border-police-rescue-a-fawn-being-illegally-held-hunted-in-west-bank","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/261920\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli Border Police rescue a fawn being illegally held, hunted in West Bank"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">An Israeli gazelle fawn who was being illegally held in the West Bank was rescued on Saturday night, the Israel Nature and Parks Authority (INPA) said.<\/p>\n<p>Following intelligence guidance from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/border-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Border Police Coast District Central Unit<\/a>, a joint operation was carried out by detectives from the Border Police Coast District Central Unit, Judea and Samaria Border Police fighters, and INPA inspectors from the Nature Reserves Unit in the Civil Administration.<\/p>\n<p>A search was conducted in the West Bank village of A-Ram, during which the forces found an Israeli gazelle fawn, a protected animal. It is illegal to own or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/tags\/hunting-in-israel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">hunt<\/a> the gazelles.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/crime-in-israel\/article-901760\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">fawn<\/a> was transferred to INPA inspectors and received further treatment at the Wildlife Hospital at the Ramat Gan Safari.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">A 48-year-old Kafr Aqab resident was detained and taken for further questioning by the INPA on suspicion of committing offenses including the trade, possession, and hunting of a protected species.<\/p>\n<p>On August 12, Border Police rescued a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jpost.com\/israel-news\/crime-in-israel\/article-905361\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">different gazelle fawn<\/a> that had been illegally caught and kept in a basement near Jenin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The police stated that, overnight Border Police officers, accompanied by supervisors from the INPA, infiltrated the area in order to locate the gazelle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The gazelle was found in the basement of a private residence in the area, the police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">One suspect was detained for questioning, and security forces intend to file an indictment against them on suspicion of hunting and holding a wild animal illegally.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article-paragraph-section article-body-paragraph\">The police also said that the gazelle was taken to be checked over by a veterinarian, and is expected to be transferred to a safari in Ramat Gan.<\/p>\n<p>Tzvi Jasper contributed to this report<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Israeli gazelle fawn who was being illegally held in the West Bank was rescued on Saturday night,&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":261921,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":"","_share_on_mastodon":"0"},"categories":[33],"tags":[17466,1105,72018,72017,37,17467,6905],"class_list":["post-261920","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-israel","tag-border-police","tag-crime","tag-gazelles","tag-hunting-in-israel","tag-israel","tag-israel-nature-and-parks-authority","tag-west-bank"],"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@iran\/117148479814954248","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/261920","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=261920"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/261920\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/261921"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=261920"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=261920"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=261920"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
