Iraq
\nwill declare full sovereignty over its territory on Sept. 30, Prime Minister
\nAli al-Zaidi said on Monday, urging Iraqis to preserve civil peace, strengthen
\nsocial cohesion and uphold the rule of law.<\/p>\n
Speaking
\nat a ceremony organized by the Sunni Endowment to mark the birth of Prophet
\nMuhammad, al-Zaidi said his government\u2019s goal is to build a \u201cfree Iraq\u201d that
\ncan provide security, dignity and stability for its people.<\/p>\n
\u201cProtecting
\nIraq, its natural resources and the future of coming generations requires
\ncooperation among all Iraqis,\u201d he added, noting that his program also focuses
\non rebuilding state institutions, combating corruption and creating conditions
\nfor productive economic activity.<\/p>\n
The Zuhair
\nruling State Administration Coalition (SAC) has previously set<\/a> Sept. 30 as the
\ndeadline for ending armed activity outside official institutions, with
\nviolations afterward subject to legal action.<\/p>\n
\nal-Chalabi of the State of Law Coalition, however, told Shafaq News that
\nefforts to bring weapons under state control remain unresolved<\/a>, with no firm
\ndeadline in place.<\/p>\n
