Iraq\u2019s Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency (FIIA)
\nfoiled an alleged financial fraud scheme involving illegal dollar sales and
\ndigital wallet theft that targeted thousands of Iraqis, a security source told
\nShafaq News on Monday.<\/p>\n
The agency arrested Murtadha Abbas Mohsen Al-Namash and
\nseveral other members of the network after tracking their online activity. According
\nto the source, the group posed as companies selling US dollars to citizens and
\ntravelers through social media, using deception and extortion to obtain money
\nand other financial assets.<\/p>\n
Authorities also shut down digital channels and platforms
\nused in the alleged scheme. The source said the channels involved around 5,000
\nsubscribers on OKX, 1,800 on Binance, 1,400 on Bybit, and 10 on MEXC.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month, Iraq\u2019s Federal Police seized more than
\n$2 million in counterfeit US currency and arrested two suspects in separate
\noperations in Baghdad.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Communications Minister Mustafa Sanad said the According to Sanad, unauthorized bundled and satellite
\nIraqi National Security Service (INSS) dismantled one of Iraq\u2019s largest
\nnetworks for illegally<\/a> obtaining and reselling bundled and satellite internet
\nservices. INSS seized<\/a> equipment and arrested the head of the Baghdad-based
\nnetwork. \u201cOther networks have also been identified and will be dismantled, with
\ntheir members arrested.\u201d<\/p>\n
