Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has dismissed Washington\u2019s threats to punish countries engaging in trade with the Islamic Republic as mere \u201cbig talk\u201d, saying Iran\u2019s trading partners will not comply with US sanctions. <\/p>\n
In a post on X on Monday, Qalibaf said Iran\u2019s trading partners had informed Tehran that they would disregard the US threats entirely, Iran\u2019s English-language Press TV<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n \u201cIran’s trade partners have also announced to us, both through the media and by sending messages, that they regard these statements as utterly meaningless,\u201d he wrote in the Farsi-language post.<\/p>\n Qalibaf also argued that the US economy had already suffered as a result of what he described as Washington\u2019s war of aggression against Iran and said the United States could not afford to damage its relations with other countries over the issue.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Americans know that no one believes their big talk; the United States is not in a position economically to further restrict its relations with other countries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n In an English-language post on Sunday, Qalibaf mocked the US administration\u2019s pledge to impose some of its harshest sanctions on the Islamic Republic, saying the US \u201cwar of aggression\u201d against Iran had left Americans facing mounting economic difficulties.<\/p>\n He said the United States had been experiencing economic problems as a result of more than six months of pressure and aggression against Iran, including falling bond yields and a downturn in the US housing market.<\/p>\n \u201cA frozen foreign policy delivers a frozen economy\u2026 The only thing still moving?
