{"id":266128,"date":"2026-08-26T21:26:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:26:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/266128\/"},"modified":"2026-08-26T21:26:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T21:26:15","slug":"irans-pezeshkian-putin-to-meet-at-sco-summit-after-25-billion-nuclear-deal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/266128\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran\u2019s Pezeshkian, Putin to meet at SCO summit after $25 billion nuclear deal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The expected meeting in Bishkek comes as Tehran and Moscow deepen nuclear cooperation, including plans for new power plants near the Persian Gulf <\/p>\n<p class=\"forfirstp\">Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin are likely to meet next week, as Tehran and Moscow deepen their cooperation in the nuclear energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>According to a CNN report, citing Iran\u2019s semi-official Mehr news agency, Iran\u2019s Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said the meeting would take place on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting comes shortly after Iran and Russia reached a major agreement covering the construction of new nuclear power plants, with the proposed projects valued at around $25 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Jalali said Tehran and Moscow had agreed to a \u201c$25 billion memorandum of understanding\u201d for the construction of new nuclear facilities.<\/p>\n<p>He added that land has already been designated near the Persian Gulf for one of the planned plants.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement marks a further expansion of nuclear cooperation between Iran and Russia and comes as Tehran faces heightened geopolitical tensions with the US and its allies.<\/p>\n<p>Jalali also stressed that the agreement with Russia is separate from a Memorandum of Understanding signed between Iran and the US in June.<\/p>\n<p>Pezeshkian-Putin meeting at SCO<\/p>\n<p>The meeting between Pezeshkian and Putin is expected to provide an opportunity for the two leaders to discuss bilateral ties as well as broader regional and international developments.<\/p>\n<p><img src=\"https:\/\/images.firstpost.com\/dlxczavtqcctuei\/news18\/static\/images\/fp\/revamp_v1\/earth.svg\" alt=\"world\" width=\"32\" height=\"32\" class=\"nvicsvg\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\"\/>More from World<\/p>\n<p>The SCO summit in Bishkek is set to bring together leaders from its member states, including China, Russia, India, Iran and Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The organisation serves as a platform for its members to discuss issues including regional security, political cooperation, trade and economic ties.<\/p>\n<p>The SCO currently has 10 members &#8211;
