Six months into the Iran War, gas is up 37% \u2014 and August is about to set a record<\/p>\n

Gas prices are up nearly 40% nationwide compared with when the Iran War began six months ago. <\/p>\n

As of Aug. 27, the national average price for a gallon of regular gas was $4.10. The day before the strikes were launched, it was $2.98. <\/p>\n

Now, an analysis from AAA is projecting<\/a> that this month will set a new record for the priciest August at the pump. <\/p>\n

This is the first August ever in which the national average price of regular gas has been above $4 every day.<\/p>\n

Prices spiked dramatically in the first weeks of the war \u2014 peaking at a national average of $4.56 on May 21. <\/p>\n

From late May to early July, fuel costs eased, but they have since started ticking back up, stagnating at just above $4.<\/p>\n

The last time gas prices were this high was in 2022 after the Russian invasion of Ukraine, according to a Get the Facts Data Team<\/a> analysis of AAA data.<\/p>\n
