Iraq\u2019s Sovereignty Alliance
\n(Al-Siyada) leader Khamis Al-Khanjar on Saturday rejected Kataib Hezbollah\u2019s
\ninvitation to visit Jurf Al-Sakhar, arguing that the district \u201cdoes not belong
\nto any faction or armed group\u201d and demanding that its displaced residents be allowed
\nto return. <\/p>\n
\u201cThe people of Jurf Al-Sakhar
\nare the owners of the land and homes, and they have the greatest right to
\nreceive guests on their property, not those who displaced them and took control
\nof it,\u201d Al-Khanjar\u2019s spokesperson said. He urged authorities to reopen the
\ndistrict, compensate affected families, and disclose the fate of missing
\nresidents, dismissing \u201cpolitical and media displays\u201d while its population
\nremains unable to go home.<\/p>\n
Earlier Saturday, Kataib Located about 60 kilometers
\nHezbollah invited<\/a> Al-Khanjar to visit Jurf Al-Sakhar, which the group refers to
\nas Madinat Al-Nasr, offering to cover his travel expenses and provide
\nprotection for the trip.<\/p>\n
\nsouthwest of Baghdad, Jurf Al-Sakhar remains<\/a> one of Iraq\u2019s most sensitive
\npost-ISIS areas. More than 100,000 residents have been unable to return since
\nthe district was retaken from ISIS in 2014, while Popular Mobilization Forces
\n(PMF) factions retain control over parts of the territory. Sunni leaders,
\nincluding Al-Khanjar, have repeatedly pressed for their return.<\/p>\n
