Iraq’s vast Al-Rutba district in western Al-Anbar province
\nis seeking to turn its abundant water, mineral and energy resources into
\nagricultural, industrial and logistics projects, building on improved security
\nand infrastructure in the remote desert region.<\/p>\n
Al-Rutba, one of the country\u2019s largest districts, covers
\nmuch of the western desert near international roads and border crossings with
\nJordan. The area has groundwater, Horan Dam, large tracts of land, mineral
\ndeposits, and electricity infrastructure that could provide a foundation for
\nnew economic activity.<\/p>\n
“The geographical location, vast areas and
\nenvironmental diversity give Al-Rutba important economic and development
\nadvantages,” Al-Rutba district mayor Imad Al-Rishawi told Shafaq News.<\/p>\n
