Iraqi lawmaker Hussein Al-Ankoushi joined the Sumeriyoun
\nparliamentary bloc, led by former Labor Minister Ahmed Al-Asadi, on Sunday
\nafter leaving former Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani\u2019s Reconstruction
\nand Development Coalition (Al-Ima\u2019ar wal Tanmiya).<\/p>\n

\u201cI believe in Sumeriyoun\u2019s legislative and oversight role
\nand its national political project, and I announce my decision to join the bloc
\nin parliament,\u201d Al-Ankoushi said in a statement.<\/p>\n

He left the Reconstruction and Development Coalition
\nfollowing disputes over parliamentary committees and their leadership and
\nsubsequently served as an independent lawmaker.<\/p>\n

Last December, the coalition condemned<\/a> an audio recording
\nattributed to Al-Ankoushi containing offensive remarks which reportedly
\nincludes references to senior Shiite cleric Grand Ayatollah Ali Al-Sistani, PSM
\nleader Muqtada Al-Sadr, and former Popular Mobilization Forces deputy commander
\nAbu Mahdi Al-Muhandis. Iraq\u2019s judiciary later issued an arrest warrant for
\nAl-Ankoushi over the recording.<\/p>\n

Al-Asadi, the head of the Sumeriyoun Bloc, is also among
\nthose targeted by the Dawn Crackdown (Sawlat Al-Fajr) anti-corruption campaign.
\nHe faces financial corruption allegations and an arrest warrant<\/a> and left Iraq
