CENTCOM said the strikes followed “recent attempted attacks by the IRGC against commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and against American service members deployed to the region.”<\/p>\n
Iranian state television reported explosions in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas but provided no immediate details.<\/p>\n
The renewed U.S. strikes come after Iranian forces attempted to place mines in the Strait of Hormuz and launched missiles at U.S. military targets in Jordan. Jordan’s military said it intercepted eight missiles that entered the country’s airspace.<\/p>\n
