That is below a ten-day average of 13 tankers, Reuters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/shipping-traffic-via-strait-hormuz-stays-below-10-day-average-data-shows-2026-09-02\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>Windward, meanwhile, <a href=\"https:\/\/insights.windward.ai\/#hormuz-anchor\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reported<\/a> four tankers entering the strait, two of them in dark mode, and three exiting on Tuesday, one of them in dark mode. Earlier this week, U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/us-energy-secretary-says-17-million-barrels-oil-transited-strait-hormuz-monday-2026-09-02\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> a total of 17 million barrels of crude had passed through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday alone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you factor in bypass volumes, it suggests Persian Gulf oil flows are above pre-war levels,\u201d ING commodity analysts <a href=\"https:\/\/think.ing.com\/articles\/the-commodities-feed-further-escalation-pushes-the-energy-complex-higher020926\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">said<\/a> in a note. \u201cBut these numbers are uncertain. Ship trackers have been estimating much more modest flows.\u201d They added that \u201cIt makes more sense to look at average flows over longer periods, rather than a single day, given flows move lots day to day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The latest tanker traffic numbers come on the heels of reports about Iran <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/business\/energy\/two-tankers-carrying-saudi-oil-attacked-strait-hormuz-2026-09-01\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">striking<\/a> two tankers in Hormuz, in response to U.S. attacks launched over the weekend, which pushed oil prices higher, with <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/oil-price-charts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brent crude<\/a> topping $96 per barrel earlier today and <a href=\"https:\/\/oilprice.com\/oil-price-charts\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">West Texas Intermediate<\/a> trading at over $90 per barrel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI \u200clike our position now much better, with almost total control of the Hormuz Strait, and their economy totally collapsing,\u201d President Trump said, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/middle-east\/us-iran-exchange-attacks-lull-war-appears-over-2026-09-02\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">quoted<\/a> by Reuters. \u201cThey are just playing out the inevitable.
