That\u2019s in addition to the at least 16 ships, 10 of which were oil tankers, <a class=\"externallink\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2026\/03\/12\/business\/energy-environment\/iran-war-ship-attacks.html\">that have been targeted during this war<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As energy and oil infrastructure continue to play a key role, questions have arisen over the environmental cost of this conflict. Every drone, ship, plane, or bomb dropped will lead to increased emissions.
