It also emphasized that Iran’s military capabilities have been significantly diminished as a result of recent operations, most notably the destruction of Revolutionary Guard boats in the Strait of Hormuz. CENTCOM spokesman Timothy Hawkins stated that the US response will be “strong and effective.” He described Tehran’s attempts to target civilians as “desperate acts.” He further stressed that Washington will not allow Iran to threaten navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. The strait remains open and safe thanks to continuous monitoring and assistance provided to transiting vessels.

Precision strikes and new waves targeting military infrastructure

In an exclusive interview with Asharq Bloomberg, Hawkins explained that the strikes carried out by Central Command were “highly effective.” The strikes successfully achieved their objectives by targeting critical Iranian military infrastructure. These targets included radars, Revolutionary Guard facilities, and communications equipment. Advanced naval capabilities, air defense sites, cruise missile launchers, and attack drones were also targeted. These operations followed Central Command’s announcement of the completion of a new wave of strikes near the Strait of Hormuz. This came in response to attempted attacks by the Revolutionary Guard against commercial vessels and US military personnel in the region.

“Tanker for Tanker” Policy and the Protection of International Navigation

US officials revealed to Axios that Washington has begun implementing a new, assertive policy called “tanker for tanker.” This policy, approved by President Donald Trump, aims to deter Iranian attacks on oil tankers. In this context, the US military targeted two Iranian oil tankers as part of a series of strikes against approximately 100 strategic targets in southern Iran. Military sources confirmed that US forces secured the passage of some 40 commercial vessels carrying millions of barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz. They also indicated that US forces successfully intercepted several cruise missiles and drones launched by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) toward the ships, with no casualties reported.

Maximum readiness and denial of rumors of ammunition shortages

In response to questions regarding troop levels, Hawkins indicated that the United States maintains more than 50,000 troops and over 20 warships. He added that dozens of warplanes are also ready in the region to carry out any assigned missions. In the same vein, the spokesman denied reports of dwindling U.S. weapons and ammunition stockpiles, deeming them “completely inaccurate.” When asked about the timing of a victory declaration, Hawkins emphasized that determining that is not within the purview of Central Command, but rather a decision solely for the U.S. civilian leadership. He also stressed that the military’s role is limited to maintaining the highest level of readiness to protect U.S. interests and those of its allies in the region.

Washington, DC – US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that the US military will continue to conduct military strikes…

[4
671,141,34,101,69,377,153,12699
post-276260","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-tehran","tag-america","tag-centcom","tag-iran","tag-strait-of-hormuz","tag-tehran","tag-the-middle-east","tag-us","tag-voice-of-emirates-website-news
["GET
