A man in his 30s was lightly wounded in the suspected stabbing terror attack in the Damascus Gate area of the Old City of Jerusalem, United Hatzalah said early Friday morning.<\/p>\n

Israel Police<\/a> said that officers stationed in the area shot the terrorist after he approached security personnel located nearby.<\/p>\n

The attack came hours after more than 50,000 people gathered at the Western Wall to recite the selichot earlier in the night.<\/p>\n

The terrorist reportedly arrived at the Damascus Gate via motorcycle around 3:45 a.m., and attempted to stab civilians there. They managed to escape unharmed and called the police.<\/p>\n

Jerusalem Border Police<\/a> responded to the call and caught the terrorist holding a knife. He attempted to stab one of the Border Police officers, at which point another officer shot and killed him.\u00a0<\/p>\n
