Donald Trump said he has saved the UK from nuclear attack by waging war against Iran as he again hit out at Britain for not \u2018helping\u2019 in the war.<\/p>\n

Speaking to GB News amid the ongoing military stand-off between Washington and Tehran<\/a> in the Middle East<\/a> over the Strait of Hormuz<\/a>, he said he \u2018saved the UK from a threat\u2019.<\/p>\n

The vital sea route for oil and gas was open to shipping before the US and Israeli offensive against Iran, which is aimed at preventing the country from developing a nuclear weapon.<\/p>\n

The disruption in the Gulf channel has shocked economies around the world, including the UK\u2019s, and caused a spike in petrol<\/a> prices.<\/p>\n

Trump said: \u2018I\u2019m saving your country from the threat too. Because if Iran had a nuclear weapon, they\u2019re more likely to use it in Europe, where they do have missile capability, than they are in America, where they don\u2019t.<\/p>\n

In the interview, the president slammed former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer<\/a> for refusing to be drawn into the Iran conflict, and hinted that the US may pull support for the UK over the Falkland Islands in response.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018Don\u2019t forget, you get a big percentage of your oil from the Strait of Hormuz, and you weren\u2019t there to help me.\u2019<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, appearing at a White House<\/a> news briefing, vice president JD Vance<\/a> disputed that the conflict with Iran was \u2018a war right now\u2019, just days after the US completed its latest round of strikes.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018There is no active shooting. I recognise there have been places where this has flared up.\u2019<\/p>\n

Trump also repeated his warning of the threat posed by immigration to the UK and the country\u2019s energy stance, arguing it was facing \u2018disaster\u2019.<\/p>\n

He said: \u2018If you don\u2019t stop people pouring into your country from all over the world, you\u2019re not going to have a country left.\u2019<\/p>\n

He also took the chance to criticise Sadiq Khan: \u2018I mean, if you go through London, London\u2019s a much different place. You have a terrible mayor. He\u2019s a nasty guy, nasty person. He\u2019s a very bad mayor.<\/p>\n

\u2018You have very high crime, and London\u2019s a very different place than if you took somebody from 15 or 20 years ago and brought them through London, they wouldn\u2019t know what happened. Such a different place.\u2019<\/p>\n

He went on: \u2018You have areas in Paris<\/a> and London where the police don\u2019t want to even go in them; there\u2019s no law and order. They\u2019re afraid to go in them. Either they\u2019re afraid, or they just don\u2019t, you know, they don\u2019t want to lose their life.\u2019<\/p>\n

But a source close to the London mayor said: \u2018Sadiq is still living rent-free in Trump\u2019s head. The guy is obsessed with him.<\/p>\n
