{"id":278017,"date":"2026-09-04T12:23:14","date_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/278017\/"},"modified":"2026-09-04T12:23:14","modified_gmt":"2026-09-04T12:23:14","slug":"germany-delivers-final-advanced-dolphin-submarine-to-israel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/278017\/","title":{"rendered":"Germany Delivers Final Advanced Dolphin Submarine to Israel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t<a href=\"https:\/\/dronefront.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">&#13;<br \/>\n    <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/WhatsAppVideo2026-05-15at09.23.58.gif\" alt=\"The Drone Front\" width=\"1280\" height=\"539\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">German shipbuilder thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has shipped the Israeli Navy\u2019s third and final Advanced Dolphin-class submarine.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vessel, named <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2023\/08\/15\/israel-submarine-secret-missiles\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">INS Drakon<\/a>, has departed the company\u2019s facility in Kiel and is now in transit to the Middle Eastern country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Its commissioning will mark the completion of a 2006 program to double the military\u2019s existing Dolphin fleet using modern hulls integrating air-independent propulsion, enabling sustained operability without resurfacing for oxygen.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alongside the extended underwater endurance, the new platforms feature heavier components, longer hulls, and increased maneuverability.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe are successfully concluding a challenging program that was characterized over many years by trust, technological expertise, and shared responsibility,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkmsgroup.com\/news\/article\/tkms-successfully-delivers-the-submarine-ins-drakon-to-the-israeli-navy-and-continues-its-long-standing-partnership\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">said<\/a> Oliver Burkhard, CEO of TKMS. \u201cIsrael is an important partner for us in the maritime sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Progress in Replacements<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">TKMS noted that it is continuing work on a parallel submarine program to <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2022\/01\/21\/israel-submarines-germany\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">replace Tel Aviv\u2019s legacy Dolphin submarines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That effort will produce a new series called \u201cDakar,\u201d with development valued at 3 billion euros ($3.4 billion).<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Contract for the vessels was awarded to the firm in 2022 and is scheduled to be completed by the early 2030s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWith the \u2018DAKAR\u2019 class, we are continuing our collaboration and demonstrating that TKMS not only develops complex naval programs but also reliably brings them to fruition,\u201d Burkhard stated.<\/p>\n<p>Israeli Navy\u2019s Dolphin II Submarine<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Advanced Dolphin system, also called the Dolphin II, is powered by a hybrid diesel-electric and AIP setup found inside the Germany Navy\u2019s own <a href=\"https:\/\/thedefensepost.com\/2026\/08\/09\/type-212cd-submarine-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Type 212 submarines<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It measures 57 meters (187 feet) long, has a beam of 7 meters (23 feet), and offers space for up to 45 personnel.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The vessel uses six 533mm tubes and four 650mm tubes to launch various torpedoes supported by the STN Atlas ISUS battle management system, which integrates sensing and electronic warfare data.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Advanced Dolphin moves at over 25 knots (46 kilometers\/29 miles per hour) and can dive up to 350 meters (1,148 feet).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/09\/513235052_24273939448868930_8496907607164962949_n-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"The lead Dolphin II-class submarine, INS Drakon.
