id=\"h-\">Washington, DC \u2013 US President Donald Trump downplayed the ongoing military standoff with Iran, calling it \u201ca minor matter\u201d for the United States.<\/p>\n<p>This came a day after his Vice President, JD Vance, asserted that the conflict did not constitute a \u201cwar.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In remarks to reporters at the White House, Trump clarified that he preferred to describe the situation<\/p>\n<p>as a \u201cmilitary dispute.\u201d He also likened it to Washington\u2019s significant success in Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>Sporadic strikes and the Strait of Hormuz is under control<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These statements by the US president coincide with the conflict with Iran entering its seventh month.<\/p>\n<p>This comes just weeks before the midterm congressional elections scheduled for November.<\/p>\n<p>Trump indicated that US forces are only carrying out \u201csporadic strikes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He emphasized that the United States is \u201cnot currently fighting,\u201d meaning there are no ongoing ground engagements.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed that his country has established complete control over the Strait of Hormuz<\/p>\n<p>and inflicted significant damage on Iranian forces, describing the achievement as \u201camazing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He refused to compare the confrontation to long wars of attrition<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When questioned about his characterization of the conflict as \u201cminor\u201d despite the deaths of American soldiers, Trump expressed his annoyance.<\/p>\n<p>He preferred, however, to compare the Iranian conflict to the Vietnam and Afghanistan wars,<\/p>\n<p>which drained Washington for years and cost it dearly in human and material terms.<\/p>\n<p>The US president concluded by asserting that the military operations had achieved their primary objective of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.<\/p>\n<p>These remarks were made on the sidelines
