Condemnations over displacement<\/p>\n

In a joint statement released by the Turkish Foreign Ministry, the ministers said, “Such inflammatory statements and proposals flagrantly violate principles of international law, including international humanitarian law, and pose a direct threat to the legitimate and inalienable rights of the Palestinian people,” and they reaffirmed their “unequivocal rejection and condemnation” of attempts to displace Palestinians.<\/p>\n

The ministers warned that turning calls for forced displacement into official policy or concrete measures to uproot Palestinians would have serious regional consequences and would directly challenge international efforts to achieve peace, including US President Donald Trump’s Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict.<\/p>\n

They stressed that Gaza is an integral part of the Occupied Palestinian Territory and called for preserving Palestinian territorial unity across Gaza and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, while reiterating support for a two-state solution based on the borders of June 4, 1967.<\/p>\n

The joint statement also urged the international community, particularly the UN Security Council, to confront attempts to establish a new demographic or geographic reality in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and ensure compliance with international law.<\/p>\n

U.S. denies forced displacement<\/p>\n

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee told reporters in Turmus Ayya, a Palestinian town in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, that there is no plan to force Palestinians to leave Gaza against their will.<\/p>\n

Huckabee said, “I can tell you categorically there is no plan of the Israelis to displace people out of Gaza against their will,” and he added that “Nobody is suggesting that there will be forced displacement.”<\/p>\n

The comments came after Ben-Gvir outlined a seven-year plan for removing Gaza’s population through what he described as “voluntary emigration,” and after Defense Minister Israel Katz said there was “no real solution for Gaza in the end without this migration.”<\/p>\n

Huckabee also said there was “open-mindedness” that if people wish to leave they should have the right to leave, and he called it a “disgrace” to “incarcerate” Palestinians in Gaza.<\/p>\n

The debate over Gaza’s future was described as coming ahead of Israel’s general election on October 27, with the Reuters report placing Huckabee\u2019s remarks in the context of Israeli ministers\u2019 proposals earlier in the week.<\/p>\n

What\u2019s at stake next<\/p>\n

In the joint statement, the foreign ministers said, “Such measures pose a direct challenge to the international efforts aimed at achieving peace, foremost among them President Donald Trump\u2019s comprehensive plan to end the Gaza conflict, which explicitly rejects forced displacement,” and they warned that the grave consequences could undermine regional stability.<\/p>\n

The same statement emphasized that the Gaza Strip is an integral part of the occupied Palestinian territories and called for preserving the unity of Palestinian land in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, while affirming that the only path to a just and lasting peace is a two-state solution.<\/p>\n

Euronews reported that Ben-Gvir\u2019s proposal aimed to remove about 250,000 Palestinians from Gaza within one year, with those left in the Strip leaving over the next six years, a framing that would empty Gaza of its inhabitants in phases.<\/p>\n
