Tehran. Iran is preparing to declare a new ‘exclusion zone’ near the Strait of Hormuz. Iran’s new Supreme National Security Council Chief Mohsen Rezai said on Sunday that this plan is going to be announced targeting ships plying through this waterway.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Iranian state broadcasters, Rezai gave few details about this. It is said that this area will start from the location of the US Navy blockade and extend through the Strait of Hormuz to the Persian Gulf.<\/p>\n
Information has come that Iran is going to make such an announcement a day after America attacked three Iranian oil tankers. America had attacked those tankers after Iran fired ballistic missiles towards an American warship. It has been analyzed that the American attack has further escalated the Iran war.<\/p>\n
Rezai said that ships entering the area designated by Iran as an ‘exclusion zone’ and attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz, and identified as making such an attempt, will be placed on Iran’s sanctions list. He said the new zone will be announced in the coming days or weeks.<\/p>\n
America is blockading Iranian ports. According to the US military, more than 20 warships are involved in the blockade. As of Sunday, the routes of 92 commercial ships have been diverted and three ships have been disabled due to the blockade.<\/p>\n
After the Iran-US ceasefire agreement ended without progress in July, America is bringing new measures to cripple Iran’s economy. Iran has also continued to attack some ships attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n
The Iran war started on February 28 after America and Israel launched attacks.
