{"id":28150,"date":"2026-03-20T12:04:11","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T12:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/28150\/"},"modified":"2026-03-20T12:04:11","modified_gmt":"2026-03-20T12:04:11","slug":"swedish-club-key-welfare-priorities-for-crew-operating-in-the-persian-gulf","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/iran\/28150\/","title":{"rendered":"Swedish Club: Key welfare priorities for crew operating in the Persian Gulf"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The operating environment in the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz remains challenging and may change with little notice, as highlighted by the decision<a href=\"https:\/\/safety4sea.com\/strait-of-hormuz-is-designated-as-a-warlike-operations-area\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> to be designated as a Warlike Operations Area by ITF\/JNG, reflecting increased risk to seafarers.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"309\" data-end=\"752\">Seafarers are on the frontline of this crisis, continuing to navigate high-risk waters to ensure the uninterrupted flow of trade to global markets. <a href=\"https:\/\/safety4sea.com\/cm-seafarers-in-the-strait-of-hormuz-crisis-imo-calls-for-safe-passage-framework\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Following the emergency session of the IMO Council, there was a clear call<\/a> for strengthened measures to support a safe maritime framework, including steps that could enable the evacuation of merchant vessels currently confined within the Gulf region.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"754\" data-end=\"931\" data-is-last-node=\"\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Against this backdrop, the Swedish Club has issued a crew welfare notice, setting out both welfare guidance and loss prevention measures for those operating in the Persian Gulf.<\/p>\n<p>Crew welfare &amp; loss prevention priorities<\/p>\n<p>Masters are advised to place particular emphasis on crew welfare and loss prevention measures during this period.<\/p>\n<p>Key focus areas include:<\/p>\n<p>Fatigue management:\u00a0Ensure adequate rest hours, monitor workload distribution, and adjust routines where operationally feasible.<br \/>\nSituational awareness:\u00a0Reinforce bridge team management, lookout effectiveness, and adherence to company security procedures.<br \/>\nMorale and communication:\u00a0Maintain open dialogue, encourage questions, and provide updates on the situation as far as practicable.<br \/>\nPsychological wellbeing:\u00a0Be attentive to signs of stress, anxiety, or reduced performance. Encourage early reporting of concerns.<\/p>\n<p>Crews should be reminded that raising safety\u2011related issues is both welcome and expected. Any requests for information regarding rights, repatriation, or safety should be escalated promptly through company channels.<\/p>\n<p>Operational considerations<\/p>\n<p>Operational disruption \u2014 including navigational interference, delays, and port\u2011level constraints \u2014 may affect voyage execution and crew change arrangements.
